CompositionWhat is a composition? A composition is the way an artist shows their point of view on a plane. It is the way to divide an artwork, how to magnify or reduce a subject, balance a picture and emphasize a theme. Using techniques of analyzing a subject such as a tree student’s will create different points of view using rulers to measure, magnifying glasses and draw from observation, or resource photos of specific trees. Draw small thumbnail sketches of your composition in your sketch journal. Pick one composition to draw large on your paper. Divide the paper in sections and draw different parts of the tree. In one section draw a leaf from direct observation In each section draw a different part of the tree. Suggestion: Roots, Leaves, Bark, tree Limbs and branches, Flowers, Seeds, and the fruit.
