Objectives:
• Students will create a necklace or bracelet with paper beads in a pattern
• Students will explore cultures other than own who make jewelry (Ancient Egyptian Jewelry)
Motivation: Students will look at examples of jewelry and video tutorial paper beads
Essential Questions:
"How can you design create a paper bead necklace with recycled items?"
"How can you plan a pattern?"
• Students demonstrates knowledge creating with recycled materials
• Synthesis in a Project – Students will create jewelry with paper beads
• Studentw will look at artist/cultures other than their own for inspiration
Materials:
Recycled Paper, Magazines, ruler, glue, string, small wooden stick or toothpicks, and scissors
Extra items: Clear nail polish
Directions:
1) Cut out Magazines or Recycled Paper in long triangles (use pattern provided) A ruler and scissors are needed
2) Wrap around a small wooden stick
3) Apply glue to small end of triangle
4) Allow time for glue to dry
5) Extra: Apply clear nail polish for a shiny bead
6) String Dry Beads in a pattern (Design with a color schemes warm, cool, primary, complementary, or monochromatic on your necklace or bracelet)
7) Photograph Art and email the art teacher your finished project
